for Cranes & Heavy Equipment

What is the Cloud?

The GlobalSim Cloud is an entry-level training simulator featuring 10 popular crane models.

Developed by our team-certified crane operators and simulation experts, the Cloud is an affordable desktop solution designed to train crane operators and help prepare them for certification exams.

Available via annual subscription service, users can download the Cloud to their own PC if desired. Most users purchase the GlobalSim Intro Kit, which includes all necessary hardware and controls with the software preloaded and ready to use out-of-the-box.

What lessons and scenarios are available?

Each of the 10 crane models includes a standard set of universal lessons. These lessons are designed to familiarize users with the equipment and to help prepare them for certification.

GlobalSim's Scenario Editor is also included with the Cloud system. This module drastically expands training possibilities as users can create an unlimited number of new scenarios to fit their training needs.

The Scenario Editor features drag-and-drop functionality that is simple to learn and use. Training organizations can literally create their own curriculum featuring hundreds of lessons if desired — all included for no extra cost as part of the Cloud simulator.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price?

Price for the system is USD $3,500 for an annual software license.

The subscription is for one concurrent license (with unlimited number of users). It includes access to 10 different crane models.

The software can be downloaded to any Windows-based PC. A high-performance computer is required. Most customers choose to purchase the Intro Kit which includes all necessary hardware with the software preloaded and ready to start.t training.

Is the Cloud a VR simulator only?

It's BOTH a VR simulator and a traditional desktop simulator.

The Cloud works with a VR headset or with a standard computer monitor. Users can also connect it to a standard high-definition television (HDTV) if desired.

In VR mode, users experience an incredible 360-degree field-of-view and a higher degree of realism. They'll also have access to certain features that are unique to VR.

Our software designers built the system to work seamlessly with the Meta family of VR headsets, though the system can work with other PC-based VR technologies as well.

For those unfamiliar or sensitive to VR environments — the system runs great with a typical computer display.

What kind of computer and controls do I need to run the Cloud simulator?

You'll need a high-performance computer to effectively run the Cloud simulator.

This is especially true if you intend to use the system in VR mode. GlobalSim recommends a computer with the following specifications:

CPU: 12th Generation Intel Core i7 - 12700k (or comparable)

GPU: Nvidia RTX 3070 (or comparable)

RAM: 2x 16 GB DDR4 (or comparable)

SSD: 1x 500 GB (or comparable)

A gamepad is also a minimum requirement to run the system. These can be purchased online for less than USD $20.

We highly recommend a VR Headset, as the experience and features available within VR-mode greatly enhance the training experience with the Cloud simulator.

GlobalSim offers an Intro Kit, which includes all the components you'll need to run the Cloud system.

What does the Intro Kit include?

The Intro Kit includes the following:

  • High-Performance PC
  • HD Display (32-inch)
  • VR Headset (Meta Quest 3)
  • Thrustmaster Joysticks with Table Mount
  • Gamepad Controller
  • Keyboard & Mouse
  • Cords and connectivity peripherals

The software is preloaded and tested before shipment so it will be ready to run straight out-of-the-box.

How is this different from other simulators?

The Cloud is a desktop system, designed to provide initial training for novices and aspiring crane operators. It can help students become familiar with crane operations and can even help prepare them for a certification exam.

We believe the Cloud system is the best desktop simulator available on the market. For an entry-level simulator, it's an incredible value and provides a terrific experience — particularly when used with a VR headset.

The Cloud is, however, an entry-level simulator. It's difficult to compare it to larger, fully immersive simulators with hyper-realistic motion systems.

Do you sell individual crane models separately?

No. The software includes 10 different crane models (with more to be added in the future). It's a bundled solution, and we don't sell individual crane models with this system.

We do sell individual crane models with our larger, more immersive systems. GlobalSim's Essential, Full Mission, and Advanced simulators offer crane-customized models. Contact us for more details.

What lessons are included for each crane model?

Each crane model has a number of core lessons designed to introduce the operator to the equipment, practice core functions, and prepare for certification. The GlobalSim Scenario Editor allows users to create an unlimited number of scenarios at their own discretion.

Do you offer customizations?

Yes. Most users will find the Scenario Editor offers incredible flexibility to create unique lessons and different environments.

However, some organizations desire very specific customizations, which may include unique crane models, specific buildings and loads, customized processes, etc.

GlobalSim does offer these services. Costs will vary depending upon the scope. You'll need to reach out to our sales department for more details and information.

Is this a new product? How long has GlobalSim been making simulators?

The Cloud is our new entry-level system. It's highly versatile and designed (in most cases) to be used at a desktop or in a classroom setting. While not as immersive as our larger simulators, the graphics and realism are impressive and offer incredible training value.

GlobalSim has been building crane simulators since 1993. We are known for producing premium-level simulators for large training centers. We've produced hundreds of simulators, which can be found on six continents — we even built the largest crane simulator in the world, a large dome system over 10 meters (34 ft.) high.

How do I get started?

Simply complete the inquiry form on this website. A GlobalSim representative will be in touch to provide you with details.

If the Cloud system is right for you, it may be possible to start using the system within 48 hours. Delivery of the Intro Kit will vary, but it usually takes approximately 3-4 weeks.
